“Take rest; a field that has rested gives a bountiful crop.”
Ovid

All physical activities take some form of a toll on your body. Intense training specifically takes a greater toll on your body, and you have to give your body rest in between workouts. Now, there are two different types of recovery. I like to think of them as passive recovery and active recovery.

Why Your Body Needs Rest

Why is this important? It’s important because, let’s face it, you don’t get the benefit of your workout while you’re working out. Your muscles repair themselves after you work out. So, it’s during this period that, if you take time to concentrate some effort, you will derive a great benefit from understanding a few things that go on in this process.

You owe it to yourself to do all that you can to assist your body in recovering from your previous day’s workout because that will allow you to train more frequently, and that’s part of the magic here.
