“The pain you’re feeling can’t compare to the joy that’s coming.”

If you are working out, you’re going to get sore muscles. Hopefully you never sustain any kind of injury, but in case you do, I want to mention that when you head to any conventional clinic, when you go see a doctor after your injury, you’re basically going to be told to follow the RICE protocol, which is Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation.

Now, of course, that’s good advice, but you’re also likely going to be inundated with instructions to take prescriptions or over-the-counter anti-inflammatory drugs, NSAIDs, COX-2 inhibitors, or stronger painkillers. I just want to let everybody know to be wary. I hate the idea of people thinking they need to grab pills for everything. Our body wants to heal itself. It doesn’t need all these pills most of the time.

This chapter contains some of the best advice to deal with sore muscles and then some.  In fact, it contains some of the best kept secrets that allow professional athletes to get back out onto the field in a short period of time after a bothersome injury.  Now those secrets will be yours.
